So has Cerebus met Cerberus here yet?

And that, Michael, is what the CIH? Archive is for...

Infanto-Throw-A-Phobe got a real good LOL!

I would imagine that, even though they didn't "identify" as such back then, there was probably a fair number of anti-baby-tossing letter writers at the time of first printing.

"BABY LIVES MATTER!!!"

"Oh, and be sure to vaccinate."

"Cerebus must be telling it wrong." and "Same as with a football...you line your fingers up along the laces.." have made me laugh or smile every time I've read them. My favorite CIH? strips yet.

Funny stuff.

Here are this week's suggested corrections:

Strip 1, sidebar, line 4--I suspect that THREE. ONE. TWO. is intentional (?).

Strip 1, panel 3, balloon 2, line 4--Should the I in I-MAY be a Y? Phonetically, it's confusing as is.

Strip 1, panel 3, balloon 4, line 3--Should the O in O-DAY be a U or OO? Phonetically speaking, that is?

Strip 4, panel 1, balloon 1, lines 5 and 6--I think it should be "BABY-THROWER" SHAMING.

Strip 4, panel 4, balloon 1, line 4--Insert a hyphen between MASS and MURDERING.

Strip 5, panel 2, balloon 3, line 6--Insert an ellipsis after IT (?)

Strip 5, panel 3, balloon 8, line 2--I think delete the hyphen in PROBLEMO (1 word).

That's it.

Oh man, sooooo funny!

Jeff, your first correction: what the comment is saying is, basically, "we go on 3 -- 1, 2,..." I assume because of space limitations that pause between the 3 and the start of the count wasn't there.

I think I'm with you on "Baby-thrower shaming"

I'm not sure with problemo. Since it's pronounced that way, would "prah-blay-mo" work better? Probably not. I suspect the way it appears in the strip is probably the best, as "problemo" looks like a typo.

Hi Jeff - Okay, things are shifting as they are wont to do with CEREBUS IN HELL? (and pretty much everything else around here). We're about 95% certain that we'll be suspending "publication" of the online strip at the end of April, after #4 ships. We have a couple of one-shot experiments that we're working on, one written and "drawn" and in pre-production and the other a "Hail Mary" pass that would have to be approved by someone else (he said, being mysterious) to appear in its present form. We're going to wait a month and solicit the 4-issue trade for June and see what the sales look like on that.

THEN (goes our current best thinking), we'll do another 4-issue mini-series, reprinting the earliest online CIH? strips in sequence. They will need to be proofread.

We appreciate your "gratis" corrections on #0 but, the format -- you doing handwritten notes with page references (like your corrections here at AMOC) isn't...working...for Sandeep (who is the one who has to plug in the corrections and who, like me, is swamped with too many things to do to make doing it that way sensible).

MY suggestion is that you download the strips from AMOC, starting back in June of last year, numbering and dating them (putting dates on them, I mean: I don't expect you take them out for dinner and a movie) and then getting them printed out at Kinko's (send the receipt and A-V will reimburse you) and mark the corrections on the strips themselves and then FedEx them to me. I'll go through them and look at your corrections on my strips and decide if they're corrections or "corrections" and then give them to Sandeep and he'll decide the same thing on his strips.

That way, we make sure the strips are proofread in perpetuity and that they're in the original order that they appeared (unless they're out of their intended order, in which case we'll annotate that).

Jeff II - I have to say that the toughest part of doing the mini-series for both of us was the back of the book stuff -- "Meet The Team" and the house ad and the funny contest page. So, from now on we're just doing the strips from page 1 to page 24 and a house ad on the inside back cover. So, what you'll be looking to do is to download the first 96 strips and, boom, there's our second mini-series.

Save your corrections from AMOC and use them to mark up the printed-out strips when we get there (which will be, like three or four mini-series from now at minimum since we'll continue to produce new strips and plug the funniest ones in with various one-shots, etc.)

HOPEFULLY this will work a lot more smoothly once you get the strips to us.

Thanks, as always, for volunteering to DO the proofreading on everything! We appreciate it!

Everyone! Glad you liked these! I didn't laugh while doing them, but I did while proof-reading them. "Baby-throw shaming". "I had forgotten that".

Watch for Benjamin Hobbs' Lord Julius Like-A-Look CIH? contest entry. (Hey I didn't mention that volunteers who worked on the strip aren't allowed to enter)

Benjamin! Your brushes are on the way!

Dave,
I just sent Sandeep a digital copy of the Lord Julius strip. The digital file should post cleaner than a scan of the printed comic.

I had forgotten about the contest...I was just sending you the comic as a Christmas card/amusing thing that I made. I really wanted there to be a CIH? with other Cerebus characters in it... And Lord Julius seemed the best choice. His like-a-look just happened to be the easiest Lord Julius to eliminate the background on. (And the funniest visual.)

I'll keep an eye out for those brushes. Thanks again.

Dave, I'll do my best.

Glad to hear the strips will all be in print eventually. I like reading them here, certainly, but having a hard copy to flip through at home will be fun.

Even if I have to hold the comic book funny.

Will the print versions have numbering and original appearance dates, then?

Is it WAYYYY too much to hope that the "Hail Mary" pass is a CIH?/Stig's Inferno crossover? I would buy at least two (2!) copies, sirs!

Perhaps I'll go through the old strips too, and lay eyes (lie eyes? ;) ) on Jeff's old corrections and see if there's anything else I notice. No promises. I think I have Jeff's email around so I could contact him if I do go through them. Again, no promises.

Travis - As always, we appreciate ANY and ALL volunteer assistance with the massive pile of work to be done around here. As, I'm sure, does Jeff.

Yes, we definitely want a MINIMUM of appearance numbering and original appearance dates attached to the strips in perpetuity. We're still a ways away from doing commentaries about them, but we always want to make sure that there's a "complete set" aspect to anything we're keeping in print.
